Caye Caulker (Belize)

Ola all!

Hum, you might be wondering why it's taking us so long to post. The thing is that the photos take a long time to upload and require us being in a cybercafe with fast internet. However, disaster struck yesterday and we have lost the photos on the memory card - I'm sure you all can do without seeing photos of us in lovely beaches and hammocks!

So here is a more detailed posting on what happened since NY. We flew to Belize City and immediately proceeded to take a boat to Caye Caulker, one of the islands in the north. Belize City is not a nice place and we thought we could do with some days of proper relaxation after NY. The little island is beautiful and really close to the second biggest barrier reef in the world. We rented the cabana you can see in the photo, which included a bathroom with hot water, a small cooking space, bicycles and hammock for just 13 pounds a day! Not bad, eh? As you can see life in Caye Caulker was tough going :-) We spent four days there. I went on a snorkeling trip and befriended some sting rays: there were about 15 of them, just "flying" under us in circles, it was so hypnotic to look at them from above... And yes, I want one, one day... I also meet a couple of morays but don't worry, I don't want one of them!

Bye for now,

Vania
